Why the guide exists
Useful open-water information is scattered across Environment Agency profiles, forecasts, gauges, local notices and what a swimmer sees on arrival. UK Wild Swim Guide brings those checks into one sequence without pretending they mean the same thing or turning them into a safety score.
What the guide maintains
We maintain a selected list of English designated bathing waters, direct links to their identified official records, place-specific local questions, a pre-trip checklist and private saved trip checks. Place pages are starting points for your own checks. They are not recommendations or first-hand swim reports.
What we can responsibly claim
This is an independent research and software product, not a lifeguard service, water-testing laboratory, medical practice or access authority. Its contribution is careful source handling and a checklist that keeps missing information visible. It does not invent swims, local observations, qualifications or reviewer biographies.
